Contemplating 2014

I had a very extensive surgery in October to address what turned out to be the most severe stage there is, stage 4, of Deeply Infiltrating Endometriosis (DIE).
I was in surgery for 7 hours. This included calling in a colon surgeon to do a bowel resection where they had to take out 6 cm of bowel tissue that was overcome by Endo lesions. This disease is REAL folks (not that you were doubting)! The good news is that there are a handful of doctors around the country who are performing very effective surgeries to "excise" or "cut out" the Endo lesions. Ask me about it if you are looking for resources.
I always hoped but found it hard to imagine that I would ever feel better. I feel completely different after my surgery to the point I had no idea it was possible to feel this good! I am looking ahead to this new year as a new start in life. I can't look behind me and grieve the lost days and years of my life to debilitating disease, because looking into the days, weeks and months ahead, is just so promising! I'm just doing what I can to take advantage of all life has to offer.
